About
Liberty Ellen Strategic Communications is the communications and consulting shop of Leah Martin, an experienced communications and fundraising professional driven to connect people and resources, and to help social impact-minded leaders be more effective and efficient, achieve big goals, and succeed in uncharted waters. Working closely with clients, she helps boost team productivity, grow relationships, and champion community impact that wouldn’t otherwise come to light.
For more than a decade, Leah worked with public affairs leaders and social entrepreneurs in Chicago, supporting political candidates and corporate, nonprofit and government organizations. In 2013, she returned to Michigan full-time to attend graduate school at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, and to invest more time and attention in her home state.
Liberty Ellen operates with a deep and flexible bench, and has multiple part-time writers and project managers in the wings. We also work closely with our go-to graphic designer, web developers, qualitative and quantitative researchers, and a mix of like-minded entrepreneurs who we call on as needed.
Leah started out teaching high school in New Orleans as a Teach For America corps member. Liberty Ellen honors the values held dear during that time – a commitment to young people, a drive to persist in the face of challenges, and a belief in the transformative power of family and community.
